Jordan Lake Trail

Description

The Jordan Lake Trail Board was started as a grass roots effort with a goal of having a trail that area kids could make a safe trek to school and back home. Too many times we have all driven down a main stretch in our lovely town of Lake Odessa to see middle school and high school kids from the track teams running on the sides of the main road. We all have either spoke of the fear or at least thought of how awful it would be for one of them to get hit by one of the cars that inevitably travel that stretch of road throughout the day.

A group of concerned Lake Odessa area residents had a dream to offer area kids a safe route to school and back. It has grown to something much larger than they ever thought possible. It is the ultimate goal of the Trail Board to have our trail connect with the NCT - North Country Trail Association that stretches through seven states from North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and into New York - and even has a portion of it going up into Canada!

The mission statement of the Jordan Lake Trail is to provide a beautiful, relaxing, serene walk or ride through nature. It seems that the mission will have to be expanded as the Board is committed to making the Jordan Lake Trail a benefit to residents, businesses, and beyond.
