Great Lakes Caring, part of the Elara Caring network of companies, is one of the nation's leading providers of home health and hospice care. Our primary focus is to provide superior quality health care to those we are honored to serve, utilizing state-of-the-art technology and innovative processes which drive extraordinary patient outcomes. With locations across the country, Great Lakes Caring provides the right care, at the right time, in the right place.
Volunteers play a vital role in our ability to provide hospice services. By volunteering a few hours or days a month you can make a difference in the lives of the patients and families we serve. As a volunteer you can choose to work with hospice patients and their families or in the office by providing administrative support.
A person who volunteers is trained for the area in which they choose to serve and are under the direction of the hospice staff member responsible for the volunteer program.
There are two major areas in which to volunteer with different job titles within those areas.
1. Administrative/Non-Patient Care Volunteer is a person who wants to volunteer but desires no direct patient contact. They may provide administrative assistance in the hospice office. There are non-patient care volunteers who can assist with yard work, running errands and other helpful activities.
2. Patient Care Volunteer is a person who wants to volunteer directly with patients, whether it is in the patient's own home, primary care giver's home, assisted living home, nursing home or other long term care facilities.
