Mission Statement
The Kokolopori-Falls Church Sister City Partnership promotes friendship, understanding and cooperation between citizens in two communities with a common interest in sustainable community development and rainforest and wildlife conservation. Falls Church's sister city is an indigenous Congolese community which manages a 1,200 square mile forest reserve in the heart of the Central African rainforest. The sister city partnership is a program of the Bonobo Conservation Initiative.
Description
The people of Kokolopori are making every effort to preserve their traditional land and its biodiversity, and they need and deserve international support. By supporting health care, education and micro-enterprise lending, we can contribute to the well-being and economic security of this community on the frontlines of rainforest conservation. Together, we can open a window on another culture for our children, help protect rare and endangered species, prevent tropical deforestation that would otherwise contribute to climate change, and learn the true meaning of global citizenship.
