The San Antonio New World Wine & Food Festival, founded in 2000, is a non-profit organization designed to promote San Antonio as a premier wine and food destination and a culinary and cultural gateway to Mexico and Latin America. The foods and wines showcase New World regions including Texas, Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean and also emphasize the region's roots in Old World cultures and countries. The Festival features both local and internationally known chefs and winemakers, creating an educational event designed to introduce residents and visitors alike to the vast diversity of Mexican, Latin American and Spanish cuisines and wines at the same time it showcases the broad spectrum of Texas agricultural products.
The Festival is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization governed by a Board comprised of wine and food professionals and civic and business leaders. Proceeds from the Festival benefit local San Antonio charities and causes.
The San Antonio New World Wine & Food Festival is an organization serving as an educational forum for consumers, producers, restaurateurs, food consultants, writers, teachers and industry personnel. The Festival's goals are to foster sound professionalism in wine and food production and service and to promote U.S. and Latin American wine and food-related industries. As a major component of the Festival, vintners from both the Old and New Worlds match their finest varieties with the cuisine, promoting creativity and excellence in all areas of the culinary arts and viticulture.
The San Antonio New World Wine & Food Festival achieves this through an annual festival with a variety of events that appeal to a large audience. The New World Wine & Food Festival takes place November 7-11, 2007.
