Mission Statement

The FACE Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic is committed to ending pet overpopulation and the misery, suffering and death that accompanies it for thousands of homeless dogs, cats, puppies and kittens every year in the Indianapolis area.

Description

In the last ten years, FACE has grown from a small grass roots effort to an organization running one the most successful spay/neuter facilities in the country. The FACE Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic is known and respected for the facility it has created, the quality of the surgeries it provides and the aggressiveness with which it approaches the problem of pet overpopulation.

Opening in 1999, the FACE Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Clinic has performed over 82,000 spays or neuters. FACE performs more than 50 surgeries a day and 10,000 surgeries a year. Because of these efforts fewer dogs, cats, puppies and kittens are suffering or dying on the streets or in local shelters.

In the last five years, annual euthanasias at the Humane Society of Indianapolis and Indianapolis Animal Care and Control have declined by more than one thousand a year. Peaking at 21,708 in 2000, 17,003 animals were euthanized in 2005. In 2006 this trend gained even more momentum. This translated into 1,923 fewer animals being euthanized in 2006 as compared to the last year. In a growing community where only more euthanasias would have been expected every year, the numbers are declining instead.
