Mission Statement

Boy Scout Troop 444 follows the guidelines and rules as set forth by the Boy Scouts of America. The Channahon United Methodist Church is Troop 444's Charter Organization. The CUMC assists Troop 444 by providing a meeting location. The CUMC Charter Organization Representative communicates with the Committee Chair of Troop 444 to ensure that the Troop is conducting a scouting program that provides the boys with the proper leadership and training as required by the B.S.A.. Adult leaders must complete Youth Protection training and the B.S.A. mandates "two-deep" leadership at all times.

Description

Adult leaders serve as the Scoutmaster or as an Assistant Scoutmaster and donate their time and talents to attend weekly Troop Patrol meetings and participate in monthly camping trips and other planned activites. These adult leaders accompany the Scouts on a yearly week-long summer camp and a yearly planned B.S.A. High Adventure trek. Adult leaders may also serve as Committee Members who complete the B.S.A. rank advancement requirement and serve in administrative positions with the Troop. Any adult member of the Troop may serve as a Merit Badge Counselors and use their vocations and advocations to mentor Scouts while earning their merit badges.
