Mission Statement
The Tropical Adventures Foundation is a resource for empowering individuals and communities inside and outside of Costa Rica.
Our goals are to ** Support the inherent value of the individual ** Reduce poverty and injustice ** Help communities achieve sustainable growth ** Create safe environments ** Promote international learning and cooperation ** Foster personal and worldwide Peace.
Every community around the world faces the fundamental challenge to create social and economic systems that promote peace, human welfare and the sustainability of the environment on which life depends. We meet this challenge by supporting and encouraging initiatives by those living and working closest to where the problems are located.
We promote collaboration among diverse individuals, nonprofit, government and businesses from the local area and around the world, as well as from every level of society. Our experience shows such activities help build common understanding, bring forward and reinforce the inherent value of the individual, strengthen a sense of local and worldwide community, and ultimately enable people to improve their lives and reinforce their commitment to society.
Description
Tropical Adventures is a not-for-profit NGO providing unique, cross-cultural volunteer opportunities for individuals, families and groups interested in exploring the culture, language and natural beauty of Costa Rica. We are a US 501(c)(3) registered with the IRS of the USA as the "Casa Milagro Foundation."
Our tours revolve around local volunteer projects, which offer the adventure of a lifetime for those willing to share their love, skills and time with those less fortunate.
The majority of our guests choose to live with a local family, volunteer in a local community, take Spanish lessons and partake in many adventure tours in an attempt to see Costa Rica in a whole new way.
We work mainly by supporting local, nonprofit organizations with volunteer help. In addition to volunteer labor and the gift of our time, we work with these volunteers to provide gifts of materials, supplies, (and in some cases cash) where needed.
Through our many programs we educate individuals, tribes, and communities to be self-sufficient and to create a healthier, more comfortable lifestyle. We strive to do this without introducing change to their happy, loving culture and values. Tropical Adventures Foundation is not associated with any religion, however love, compassion and respect are used as the cornerstone of all our programs.
As an organization, we show compassion for others, teach love by example, and recognize the more we give of ourselves, the more we are blessed in life.
