Mission Statement:

Helping Others Reach Success & Excellence combining the healing power of horses with highly trained professionals to deliver alterative therapeutic services to people in need of mental, emotional, and physical assistance, H.O.R.S.E.

Description

  • H.O.R.S.E. Talk is a psychotherapy program where clients learn about themselves and others by participating in activities with horses, and then processing (talking about) feelings, behaviors and patterns. Metaphorical learning is applied to learn about oneself and in relationship to others. H.O.R.S.E. Talk is not a riding or horsemanship program. Activities are done from the ground. H.O.R.S.E. Talk is designed for the older child (10+), adolescents and adults.
  • H.O.R.S.E. Focus in a program with hippotherapy impact and may be facilitated with a certified equine professional and may have as part of the theraputic team a mental health professional, OT, PT, or SP, depending on the need of the client. This program is designed for two populations, the younger child between ages four and ten and children with autistic disorders, LD, or MR. This program works with children on multiple levels. The child focuses on working with the horse by participating in age and ability level appropriate activities. These activities are designed to help the child explore emotional issues, learn social skills, and stimulate the neuromuscular system to increase learning ability (such as the ability to focus, absorb knowledge, process information), improve physical abilities (such as gross and fine motor skills, balance and speech and language) and increase overall mental and emotional health by increasing self esteem, self confidence and improved social and relationship skills.
  • H.O.R.S.E. Partnership Naturally is a personal growth and development horsemanship program that may be facilitated by a certified equine professional and by client's request a licenced mental health professional. While learning more about safely handling and riding horses the client is receiving emotional health benefits and improving life skills. Clients will learn about horses from ground skills through beginning riding. This program is ideal for clients that have low self esteem, lack of self confidence, learning disabilities, make poor choices, and difficulties with problem solving. This program will help the participant learn about horses and learn about themselves in a non-judgmental, supportive manner. H.O.R.S.E. Partnership Naturally is open to all ages.
  • All three of these programs can be utilized by Adults and children who struggle with physical challenges. Trained professionals will help you design the program you need to be successful.

H.O.R.S.E. is an amazing organization. They work with each individual in a special way designed to help them reach their specific goals. It is absolutely amazing how much change children go through during their sessions. I have enjoyed volunteering with H.O.R.S.E. because I enjoy watching and helping children grow and learn how to better deal with obstacles and challenges of every day life.

I am the volunteer coordinator for H.O.R.S.E. This is a volunteer position that I have held since 3/07. I have volunteered for this agency for 5 years. The people who run it are terrific! They care about their clients and give them 100%. They care equally about their volunteers as they continually show their appreciation. Volunteers that work with the autistic kids find much satisfaction in watching them grow. There is a lot of work to be done, but we always have fun!
