Mission Statement

The Pleasant Valley Education Foundation (PVEF) is a non-profit 501c3 organization where businesses, schools, educators, parents and community volunteers come together to advance hands-on opportunities in arts and technology education for
Camarillo, CA K-8 public school students.

PVEF's mission is to improve student achievement by supporting after-school and in-school programs in these important but increasingly short-changed categories in public school budgets.

The Pleasant Valley Education Foundation believes experiential learning can engage parts of the brain -- create true understanding -- in ways that a textbook can't. While you can learn math and history from textbooks, creativity, abstract thinking, and selfconfidence are learned by doing, and underpin success in all endeavors. For these reasons, PVEF believes that hands-on learning is vital for a well-rounded education.

Description

PVEF's after-school programs serve nearly 1,000 students, while its funding of innovative in-school programs and/or technology equipment has served thousands more.

PVEF's major programs include:

CineMagic - Our after-school performing arts program teaching singing, dancing, and on-stage performance.

Robotics Roundup - Students design, build, program and test robots to accomplish challenge missions, as well as research real-life problems and demonstrate solutions on the cutting edge of science.

3rd Grade Speech Tournament - Students learn self-confidence and public speaking skills in categories such as poetry, storytelling and expository speaking.

Innovation Grants - Supporting innovative arts and technology learning in the classroom for individual teachers and/or district-wide programs. Most recently, our Apps in Education program awarded individual teachers educational apps that can be
used in new classroom iPads and other tablets, in accordance with new Common Core standards.
