Mission Statement
Phoenix Frontrunners, Inc. (PHXFR)'s mission is to support our community in health and education by promoting the adoption of a healthy lifestyle through running and walking. We advocate an environment that is fun and enjoyable for all, whether LGBT identified or LGBT allied, which includes all individuals having an interest in participating in an environment that respects equality, diversity and acceptance.
It is an important part of our mission to provide educational material, events and activities that foster physical and mental health. To this extent, we provide educational material, events and activities that are free of bias and are of general interest in order to allow everyone to come together in settings where individuals have needed tools and educational material to use, and events and activities to participate in that foster positive experiences and build lasting friendships.
Philanthropy is also an important part of our mission and we are proud to contribute $5.00 dollars of every race entry sold in our Pride Run and Walks to Phoenix Pride, Inc. in support of their Phoenix Pride Scholarship Program, which helps those in need within the LGBT community obtain or further their education.
Description
Phoenix Frontrunners, Inc. (PHXFR) has a long and exciting history. We started out in the Phoenix Metropolitan area in 1999 and initially incorporated as Arizona Frontrunners, Inc. in 2001. We started our group with three runners who came together to run once every two weeks. Since then, we have grown to over 200 participants and currently have three running and walking events weekly.
2013 has brought big change for us as we worked to rename ourselves to Phoenix Frontrunners, Inc (PHXFR). This was done to align our name with our main city, which is also helping us align with our peer Front Runner organizations across the United States. In 2013, we also became a not-for-profit corporation focused on education.
We have produced and executed 16 annual Pride Run & Walk events with our 2014 Pride Run & Walk event being one of our most exciting. We kicked it up a notch in 2014 and introducted our first 10K run. We also introduced a 5K walk instead of our usual 3K walk. The run and walk also moved to central Phoenix where we introuced our new USATF certified course.
2015 will prove to be another exciting year for us as we work to introduce our new USATF certified course in central Phoenix. The 17th annual Pride Run & Walk will be sure to please with the introduction of a half marathon, which will be complimented by 10K and 5K run and 5K and 3K walk offerings. This won't be your average event and will be a must-do for all running and walking enthusiasts.
