Description

Caribbean University is a private, co-educational, non-profit Hispanic-Serving Institution that evolved from the transformation of Caribbean Junior College, founded in 1969. It provides post-secondary education to numerous college bound students not admitted to the state university. Caribbean University's stable growth from a junior college to a full university campus offering Associate, Bachelor and Master's Degrees. For the last 44 years, the Institution has primarily served an educational and economically underprivileged student population. Throughout this time period, the University has managed to sustain its fiscal stability and academic program development. It has accreditation from the Council on Higher Education of Puerto Rico and the Middle State Commission on Higher Education. It has a Main Campus in Bayamn and three centers on the island, Vega Baja, Carolina and Ponce.

Caribbean University visualizes mankind as the means of all things within a humanistic setting. Man is perceived as motivated by the need to achieve and the desires to behave with responsibility. Therefore, the Institution is committed to the enhancement of the intellectual and ethical development of the University community. It accepts the responsibility to encourage respect for human dignity and the desire to compromise for the improvement of society. To better serve Puerto Rico, Caribbean University considers that higher education is not an economic or an intellectual privilege; its open doors policy is available to any responsible individual who aims to continue intellectual development.

The University endeavors in developing in each student respect for the dignity of the individual; a continuous desire for learning; capacity for critical-independent reasoning; the ability to be self-sufficient.
