MISSION

The Shabazz School mission is to provide every student with a safe and nurturing learning environment, and an academically rigorous and culturally relevant educational program that graduates students who excel in reading, oral and written language, mathematics, science, technology, social studies, and the arts and humanities.

We believe that children bring to school everything they need to succeed. Working together with family leaders and the community, using a character-based value system, technology, the arts and educational best practices, we expect to inspire in all our students a passion for learning.

Description

Established in 1998, Betty Shabazz International Charter School is a network of three African-centered charter schools serving K-12 students residing in Chicago: Betty Shabazz Academy (grades K-8), Barbara A. Sizemore Academy (grades K-8) and DuSable Leadership Academy (grades 9-12). Since its inception, Shabazz School has consistently produced exemplary, high achieving students who have a strong sense of cultural identity and a commitment to make positive contributions to the community and the world.
