Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Unite the caring power of communities to invest in effective solutions that improve people’s lives.
United Way’s programs are focused on improving community well-being and civic health through services, advocacy, and volunteerism.
Education goals enable low-income children and parents to be empowered through supports that allow them to reach their true potential. Strategies focus around parent education; young literacy; developmental training; youth development and leadership; and academic engagement and support.
In the financial stability arena, United Way is helping low-income families increase their income, build savings, and gain and sustain assets. Strategies include housing and food assistance; case management; financial education; employment training and support; accessing public and employer benefits; and savings campaigns.
United Way’s health programs address needs stemming from more than 32,000 people who have no health insurance in our local area. Strategies include offering nutritious meals for seniors to remain independent; accessing healthcare services through transportation options; and accessing mental health and substance abuse treatment programs.
United Way also provides an information-referral system (2-1-1) and a volunteer center. United Way 2-1-1 is a free, confidential phone service that connects individuals and families to community resources and the services they need. The volunteer center connects, promotes, and educates people on the importance of volunteerism throughout our area and its 2,066 volunteers contributed 84,531 hours this year alone.
