To build positive relationships with self, peers, family, school and the community through the facilitation of matches between students and caring adults.
Mentoring is a proven intervention that matches adults fromthe community with adolescents who have shown a need for a strong relationship with an interested adult. This school-based mentoring program requires an adult to meet with a child at least 1/2 hour per week at the school. The length of each visit has been proven not to be as important as the duration of the relationship; therefore, we strive to create a match that will last at least 12 months. Evidence has shown that mentoring have a great impact on the life of a child! 64% of students develop more positive attitudes toward school; 58% achieve higher grades in social studeis, languages and math; 60% improve relationships with adutls; 56% improve relationships with peers; 55% are better able to expres their feelings; 64% develop higher levels of self-confidence; 62% are more likely to trust their teachers; 46% are less likely to initiate drug use; and 27% are less likely to initiate alcohol use.
