Mission Statement

Congenital heart defects are the #1 birth defect in the U.S. with nearly 1 in 100 babies born with CHDs each year. There are between 2 and 3 million people living with CHDs including more than 1 million adults living with CHDs. Despite advances in medicine, 15% of children with CHDs do not live past their 18th birthday. CHD research and programs are severely underfunded. The Congenital Heart Walk aims to correct this problem at the grassroots level - families helping families!

Description

Plans are now underway for Pittsburgh’s third annual Congenital Heart Walk, benefiting those affected by the number one birth defect in the world! In 2013, we raised over $82,000 and had almost 1,000 walkers. The 2014 family fun-filled event is expected to be even bigger. The walk will take place on Sunday, June 29th at the Boat House in North Park (Allison Park, PA). The Congenital Heart Walk is an exciting ongoing effort between the Adult Congenital Heart Association’s (ACHA) and The Children’s Heart Foundation (CHF)! This national fundraising campaign is designed to provide support for the millions of impacted by congenital heart disease (CHD). This year, in addition to our local event, the walk will take place at 27 locations across the country, including New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and Washington DC! Funds raised help us continue our missions to fight CHD in a truly inspirational day of sharing, caring, and fun.
