What We Do:

Community Involvement Hampton Roads Pride recognizes the value of our area youth. We have worked with a number of student GLBT organizations to help them meet their goals. We have provided financial assistance to send student ambassadors to leadership conferences, and were pleased to assist the students at Christopher Newport University bring a section of the AIDS quilt to their campus. We have also provided education to these organizations in the form of speakers and recently sponsored a transgender speaker at Old Dominion University.

Hampton Roads Pride also works in conjunction with the Tidewater Aids Community Taskforce (T.A.C.T) providing free and confidential H.I.V. testing at a variety of our public events and fundraisers. HRP also donates a percentage of its fundraising to a variety of other local charities including C.A.N.D.I.I. House (Children's AIDS charity) and Full Circle AIDS Hospice.

College Scholarship Program Through the Hampton Roads Pride Scholarship Program we have been able to assist over 28 college-bound area youth attend the college or university of their choosing. In August of 2006 Hampton Roads Pride awarded $10000 to 13 deserving students. Scholarships are based on Merit, Academics, and Community Involvement, and are chosen by an outside jury. In only 4 short years the Hampton Roads Pride Scholarship Program has awarded over $35000.
