Mission Statement
The mission of the Omaha Public Schools is to provide educational opportunities which enable all students to achieve their highest potential. OPS Adult Basic Education (ABE) program is designed to help adult learners review/improve reading and basic academic skills, provide instruction in preparation for the GED tests and/or teach English as a second language (ESL).
Description
The Omaha Public School's Adult Education Program (ABE) serves thousands of adults, ages 17 -97, in the Omaha area. The ABE program is comprised of two types of classes: ESL(English as a Second Language) classes serve adults who are working to improve their English speaking, writing and reading skills. GED classes serve adults who are working to improve their basic literacy and numeracy skills or preparing to take the GED exams. Certified classroom teachers prepare and direct curriculum/lessons specificially designed for each student. GED and ESL classes are offered at a variety of times and locations throughout Omaha.
