SUN Home Health & Hospice is a Medicare certified home health and hospice organization that has been servingCentral Pennsylvaniasince 1969. The organization annually cares for approximately 2,500 patients with nurses traveling more than three quarters of a million miles delivering that care. SUN Home Health & Hospice is a participating provider for most major insurers, many additional private insurance plans, and networks.
SUN Home Health & Hospice, with approximately 350 employees and volunteers, serves the needs ofCentral Pennsylvaniaresidents from seven branch locations, located in Lewisburg, Lewistown, Millersburg, Millerstown, Northumberland, Shamokin, and Williamsport/Montoursville. In spite of decreasing reimbursements and a changing healthcare environment, the organization annually provides more than $500,000 in uncompensated care while caring for all appropriate individuals needing assistance.
Since its inception SUN Home Health & Hospice has focused on improving the lives of those it serves by helping them to stay home while facing recuperation, a chronic illness, or a life-limiting diagnosis. Providing that care at home -- where all patients and families want to be -- is more cost efficient than that delivered by hospitals or long term care institutions. Provision of homecare has become an increasingly complex form of care as patients return home with shortened lengths of hospital stays and with "high tech" forms of care required in the home.
SUN Home Health & Hospice provides care to patients across the age spectrum, from birth through death (at whatever age). The goal in homecare is to keep families together at home when one of them is experiencing a significant illness.
