Mission Statement

Our goal is to build better communities by supporting people with disabilities to be integrated into all aspects of communities of their choosing. We provide Education and transition services to school-age children within the public school setting and adults may choose from an array of services including Community Living (residential), Employment and Community Participation (adult day), and an arts-infused day program (ART Options). In addition, our expanding In-Home services assists people to remain in their home environments for as long as possible while receiving health and homemaker support.

Description

St. John’s Community Services embraces the concept of providing services to people with disabilities without separating them from the community as so often happens. SJCS’s innovative, community-based services to people with intellectual, developmental and other disabilities embodies a continuing search for the most effective ways to include people into the living fabric of our community.

SJCS and its subsidiary organizations in the District of Columbia, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Virginia, advocate for full citizenship and equal rights for people with disabilities. Whether you are a person with a disability, parent, advocate, government official, prospective donor, current staff member or a person seeking rewarding employment or a volunteer opportunity--SJCS is an agency that stands out and is worth your further exploration.
