Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
The Grotto strives to provide a welcoming presence and a beautiful environment conducive to peace, quiet and spiritual inspiration. The Grotto is committed to offer understanding, compassion and hope through a variety of ministries including counseling, education and spiritual direction. The Grotto endeavors to serve an ecumenical community encompassing staff, people of the greater Portland area, and visitors from global community.
Visitors will discover a peaceful 62 acre retreat near the center of Portland. Lush green firs tower over rhododendron and other native Pacific Northwest flora as you walk toward the central plaza and heart of the sanctuary - Our Lady's Grotto - a magnificent rock cave carved into the base of a 110 foot cliff. A marble replica of Michelangelo's Pieta is featured in its center. On the upper level, visitors will find magnificent panoramic vistas of the Columbia River Valley and Mt. St. Helens. Especially impressive is the 180 degree floor to ceiling view through the beveled glass wall of the Meditation Chapel. Other highlights include a bronze statue, plaques, wood sculptures, and a reflection pond.
