Mission Statement

The Foosaner Art Museum of Florida Institute of Technology seeks to stimulate thought, inspire creativity and enrich the community by offering diverse, high-quality visual arts exhibitions and educational programs, and by augmenting, preserving, and presenting its world-class permanent collection.

Description

The heart of an art museum is its permanent collection, held in the public trust and preserving works of art that project artistic and historical significance. Since opening in 1978 the Foosaner Art Museum has amassed over 5,000 objects, spanning 20 centuries. These items form the Museum’s Permanent Collection, reflecting not only the Museum’s interests and specialties, but also the lives of the people who have lived in the community.

Throughout the year, visitors can experience a changing selection of exhibitions. Rotating exhibitions of nationally and internationally recognized artists showcase contemporary trends and historical art movements as do the variety of exhibitions created from the Museum’s permanent collection. The Foosaner Art Museum’s permanent collection is comprised primarily of Modern and Contemporary Art and includes the Conill Mendoza Collection of American Industrial Design and the world's largest collection of works by Ernst Oppler (German, 1897 - 1929).
