Mission Statement

Havana Film Festival New York (HFFNY), this year from April 13-19, is an internationally recognized film festival showcasing perspectives of Latin American culture through new full-length feature films, documentaries, shorts, animation and classics. HFFNY works to build a close relationship with our community providing a multi-cultural experience to different age groups. Our patrons are educated through panel discussions designed to give a behind-the-scenes look at an industry that continues to gain recognition on a global level.

Description

Havana Film Festival New York features classic and new independent film from by filmmakers from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Peru, Uruguay, Puerto Rico and Venezuela that are rarely screened in the U.S. in conjunction with the International New Latin American Film Festival in Havana, the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba, ICAIC, IMCINE and others. HFFNY facilitates an event in which audiences not only watch the films, but also can become part of the experience through Q&A sessions with directors, industry panels and gala events. HFFNY even caters to the youngest of audiences with a children's program at The Metropolitan Museum of New York, arranged screenings with local schools and selected children's programming. Havana Film Festival New York is a project of the American Friends of the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization building cultural bridges between the United States and Cuba through programs in the arts.
