Mission Statement

The mission of New Mexico Center for Therapeutic Riding is to enrich and expand the lives of children, youth, and adults with special needs through equine-assisted activities and therapies.

Description

New Mexico Center for Therapeutic Riding is a program that uses horses to help people of all ages with disabilities. Clients are taught to ride by a PATH-certified instructor with the help of volunteers who lead and walk beside the horse until the client can be independent. At present we have 4 horses in a stable near Santa Fe's former racetrack. Lessons take place in an outdoor arena and include grooming and caring for the horse as well as riding. We have individual clients and we also work with organizations such as the New Mexico School for the Deaf, Youth Shelters, and the Santa Fe Public Schols.
