Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
World Bridges creates opportunities for diverse young people from low-income backgrounds to work for peace and justice by collaborating, raising awareness, and taking action, locally and globally. Through participatory trainings, service-learning, and international exchanges, we provide a continuum of experiences that nurture personal growth, develop leadership skills, and empower our participants to build alliances across communities and cultures.
The Leadership Exchange Program: World Bridges' core program engages young adults from low-income backgrounds in eight months of leadership, civic engagement, and cross-cultural training in the SF Bay Area, and provides first-time travelers from the Bay Area with an opportunity to take part in a volunteer project or internship outside of the US (2 weeks to 3 months abroad).
Our program is centered on principles of participatory, experiential education with a vision of social justice. Meetings and events are 2-3 times a month in the SF Bay Area. We cover 80% of the program costs including most if not all of the international airfare, travel insurance, and the international volunteer project-related costs.
The 2008 Leadership Exchange Program began in February. (We will begin accepting applications to the 2009 program in the end of the year.) Our volunteer needs center around supporting the program and other aspects of our organization.
