Mission Statement

What We Do:

OUR MISSION
To enrich the lives of young people in the Louisville Metropolitan area by providing unique programs and affordable facilities which promote character development and positive life skills through the game of golf.

Description

In February 2005, The First Tee of Louisville became the 200th facility of The First Tee at its Annual Meeting at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida. This was a day many of us had been waiting years to arrive. The First Tee of Louisville was conceived as an umbrella organization for three existing junior golf programs at Shawnee Golf Course (Urban Youth Golf program, Tee Swingers and Shawnee Youth Golf Club). Today, these programs have been molded into The First Tee of Louisville, which provides Golf Skills, Life Skills and Healthy Habits to our participants.

Over the years our programming has grown, as has the number of partipants in the programs. This year we are conducting eight-week sessions on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Please click here for information on the dates and times of these sessions.

Shawnee Golf Course is our home course where we have built an office in the clubhouse, where we have the Humana Golf Simulator, and constructed a first-class short game practice facility along with a pavillion next to the practice green and bunker. We have also built a three-hole par 3 AT&T Youth Golf Course on the other side of a large practice area.

Our goal is to inspire as many young people as possible to live the Nine Core Values of The First Tee - Honesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Respect, Confidence, Responsibility, Perseverance, Courtesy, and Judgment. We are confident that we will be successful in this effort.
