Description

Meta House is a nationally recognized treatment center that has been providing gender-appropriate alcohol and other drug abuse treatment services for women since 1963. Programs address all of the issues clients face, as women and as mothers. Meta House services not only help women to stop abusing alcohol and drugs, but assist them in tackling a host of other barriers such as poverty, lack of employability skills, homelessness and/or unsafe housing, parenting, need for basic skills of daily living, poor physical health, co-occurring mental health disorders, and histories of physical, emotional and sexual abuse.

In addition to a wide variety of services provided to women, comprehensive services are provided to children affected by maternal substance use to break the cycle of addiction. Our vision is that the families we serve become self-sufficient, contributing members of our community.

In 2008, Meta House served 311 women and 165 children.
