Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
The "I Have A Dream" Foundation's mission is to break the cycle of poverty, illiteracy, and unemployment by producing high school graduates who are poised for post secondary education, employment and life success as independent, community minded leaders.
The "I Have A Dream" Foundation provides after-school programming that educates, enriches, and empowers each student, or 'DREAMER', that we work with. We do this by employing a comprehensive approach to address the collective needs of each individual student through our six pillars of development: basic needs, academic enrichment, leadership development, career and workforce development, mentoring, and cultural enrichment. In conjunction with our daily programming, our staff works with the Clark County School District and other community and organizational partners to meet our student's needs in each of these areas.
"I Have A Dream" Foundation began in Harlem, in 1981, when businessman Eugene Lang promised a class of sixth graders that he would help them reach their potential and that he would provide college tuition to any student who graduated from high school. The "I Have A Dream" Foundation started working in Las Vegas in 1996. We have established an 85% graduation rate, compared to the 8 out of 10 at-risk students in Nevada that will not graduate form high school. Currently we are working with a class of 8th grade students at West Prep Academy and as well as working towards growing our program by commissioning additional classes of DREAMERS.
The "I Have a Dream" Foundation’s vision is that every child, no matter how disadvantaged, has the opportunity, support and resources needed to succeed in school, graduate from high school, and pursue their dreams of higher education and economic independence.
