Mission Statement

The mission of the City of Aurora Parks and Open Space Department is to be a steward of outdoor places essential for people and nature to thrive in our community

Description

Open Space enhances our quality of life, allowing us to escape from the hectic pace and provide balance in our lives. For that reason we believe it is critical that we preserve opportunities for future generations to experience natural areas and ecosystems of all types.

We are the caretakers of these lands, responsible for the preservation, protection and management of the resources. We base our decisions on sound ecological principles, always considering the needs of the native wildlife and vegetation at each site.

We provide a safe environment for and facilitate public interaction with the natural environment while promoting wise, sustainable and appropriate use.

While understanding the reality of the public and political environment in which we work, we are advocates for the integrity and importance of the natural lands.
