Alternatives for Youth, Inc. promotes academic persistence and success of youth by instilling values that lead to positive choices and positive community impact and by encouraging social, cultural, and self development.

Description

The goals of Alternatives for Youth are to keep youth in school until they graduate, to help youth avoid drugs, alcohol and violence, to encourage youth to make healthy decisions, to help youth learn to handle stress and conflicts peacefully, to strive for improved communication between parents and youth and to empower youth with the confidence, self-esteem and ability to make positive decisions. Alternatives for Youth carries out its mission through positive after-school and summer programs, conflict resolution and anger management classes, and an alternative school for expelled and suspended youth.
