WhoWhatWhy is a nonprofit, nonpartisan news organization aiming to discover and share the truth about matters affecting us all. We launched with the idea that the public deserves courageous and thorough investigations into powerful institutions, entities and individuals that shape our world. We pride ourselves on having no sacred cows, and covering stories that no one else will touch. At WhoWhatWhy, we believe that quality information changes minds--and that when you change minds, you change everything.

I expressed my interest in volunteering for this organization and was contacted after about 2 days. The email began with a 'thank you'; however, the representative felt the need to express this was an unpaid position. I found this a little puzzling, since I found the organization on volunteermatch.org which seems to me to already imply unpaid. Nonetheless, the email proceeded to ask me for my resume (standard request) and a cover letter detailing why I left my past employment, how do I feel that I would be a good fit for this profile, strengths, weaknessnes, and time commitment to whowhatwhy. As requested, I sent all the requested information within less than 24 hours. That was Tuesday of this week and it now, Friday and I've heard nothing more, either a 'yes' or a 'no'. I have no problem disclosing any of the information requested, but I didn't feel appreciated. I felt more scrutinized. Even a follow-up email could've worked saying got your info and we'll get back to you soon.

I chose to volunteer for this because i want to change the world and since i'm a beginner, i figured i'd do it through reporting. I also chose to do this because i'm excellent at writing.
