Tehiyah Day School is a Kindergarten - 8th Grade Community Day School located in El Cerrito, CA. Philosophy Tehiyah means renewal. Tehiyah Day School's education aspiration is to combine scholastic achievement in general studies with the richness of Jewish learning. To that end, Tehiyah structures its varied education programs to promote four basic goals: excellence in general studies, math, science, and humanities; depth of Judaic experience and knowledge of Hebrew; appreciation of the visual and performing arts and computer; and fostering the generous spirit of the child as an individual within our community. Tehiyah is a Jewish Community Day School that encourages understanding for all Jewish traditions. It is not affiliated with any denomination or movement. The diversity of Tehiyah community supports the governing framework of pluralism and acceptance. Jewish tradition is viewed as a reservoir of practices, values and concepts from which children can draw meaning and develop an informed connection with themselves, knowledge, and Jewish life. The school strives to realize its values in all aspects of its daily operations, combining Jewish and general studies and cognitive achievements with social and emotional development.
