Mission Statement

We, the staff of Barbara Jordan Elementary, believe our purpose is to educate all scholars in high levels of academic performance, positive social growth, and multicultural awareness. By mastering grade level objectives, our scholars will be adaptable to a variety of assessment criteria and technologically geared toward the 21st century. We accept the responsibility in cooperation with parents and community to teach all scholars so they can attain their maximum potential.

To teach and model pro-social skills.
To utilize campus technology as learning tools.
To improve parent involvement.
To acquire skills in a second language and to develop cross cultural understandings.

Major Programs and Initiatives

Second language acquisition through our Dual Language Program

Prepare our scholars for the new State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) end-of-course exams

Prepare our scholars for 21st century careers through our College Readiness campus programs

School beautification projects: gardening, recycling, and other art projects
