Here's a sample of our volunteer opportunities:VIEW AS
Our mission is to raise awareness about Sensory Processing Disorder, to fund the Sensory Processing Disorder Foundation to support continued research for this condition, and help provide families assistance that cannot afford therapy services.
We are taking SPD Parent Zone one step further and opening up an indoor play area for special needs kids called The Sensory City of Chicago.
The Sensory City of Chicago's mission is to provide a safe and fun indoor sensory play area for children with special needs and their families. We are working with a renowned Children's Museum Designer to custom build extraordinary interactive exhibits designed as Chicago Landmarks and Chicago Sport Teams. We are working with experts (therapists, doctors, specialists and designers) to make sure our exhibits are specifically created to meet each child's unique sensory needs. This is the first of it's kind in the Midwest.
The Sensory City of Chicago's goal is to create a postive environment where everyone is encouraged, accepted and supported for being exactly who they are. The families will benefit from being around other families that understand the daily triumphs and struggles of raising a child(ren) with special needs. The postive and fun community that is created will help the special needs children grow emotionally, physically and socially that will follow them throughout their lives.
The services we provide are: Open Gym, Classes (Art, Music, Yoga, Meditation, Life/Social Skills), Birthday Parties, a Snoezelen Room, Support Groups for Parents and Caregivers, and Private Gym time for Therapists.
