Mission Statement

We are special district - like a school or fire district - dedicated to conserving the soil and water resources of Multnomah County east of the Willamette River. Description

SWCDs are non-regulatory and are not involved with enforcement of environmental laws. Instead we use a cooperative, non-regulatory approach to voluntary natural resource conservation. SWCDs provide outreach, education, and technical assistance about conservation to rural and urban landowners. Technical assistance is available with pasture management, erosion control, invasive weed control, manure management, nutrient management, forest stand improvement, riparian area restoration, native tree and shrub establishment, and wildlife habitat management. Our services are provided free of charge, including site visits.
