Mission Statement

To seek the transformation of prisoners and their reconciliation to God, family, and community through the power and truth of Jesus Christ.

Description

The InnerChange Freedom Initiative (IFI) is an intense values-based program taught from a biblical perspective and focused on Jesus Christ as our model and source of real lifelong change.

IFI has two parts. Participants receive 18 months of pre-release programming in a prison unit separated from the general population. After release from prison, they receive 12 months of reentry programming and mentoring to help them get settled in a job, in the community, and in a supportive church. After their "graduation," participants still maintain a close relationship with IFI staff and volunteers, receiving encouragement and support as needed.

It's not an easy program. It starts early in the morning and ends late at night, and nearly every waking hour is spend in a combination of academic and life-skills classes, small-group discussions, leadership training, prison jobs, and personal study. All of this is led by IFI staff and community volunteers who care about and believe in the members of the program.
