ABOUT US
Founded in 1929, the Chester County SPCA is totally independent of any other animal welfare organization and does not receive county, state, or federal tax funding. Instead, the CCSPCA is supported through voluntary contributions and fund-raising events such as the annual Benefit Horse Show, the Walk for Paws, and the Forget-Me-Not gala.
Committed to providing services that solve the problems of animal suffering due to cruelty, neglect, ignorance, and overpopulation, we approach these problems not just through animal control, but also (and more importantly) through proactive programs aimed at the causes of animal problems.
An award-winning shelter, the CCSPCA is one of the finest, cleanest, most carefully run shelters in the country. This year we will take in over 5,000 homeless, unwanted, or abused animals from every corner of Chester County and beyond, from the most affluent areas to the most economically disadvantaged.
Each animal we rescue is lovingly cared for. Thousands receive shelter, food, vaccinations and a physical exam and every attempt is made to find responsible, permanent homes for them. We are proud that because of an aggresive program to find responsible, loving homes for our guests, adoptions have increased by 30 percent from previous years.
By updating our shelter facility, expanding animal health programs, promoting spaying and neutering, and offering a seven-day, 24-hour ambulance service, animal cruelty investigations, lost and found services, and pet visitation programs, we are improving the lives of thousands of animals and people.
