Mission Statement

Naomi Project works with high-risk pregnant women and newly parenting mothers to promote consistent prenatal care, foster positive parenting skills and to support them as they plan a healthy future for themselves and their babies.

Description

Naomi Project trains volunteers in the Northern Virginia area twice a year to become mentors to high-risk pregnant and newly parenting women. Mentors develop a one-on-one relationship with a client with help as needed from an experienced area coordinator.

They emphasize the importance of breastfeeding, appropriate immunizations, and providing a stimulating environment for children.Mentors may help clients locate safe car seats, cribs and other necessities. They help their clients plan appropriately for their future.

Most but not all volunteers are mothers themselves.
