Description

The YMCA of Beaufort County is part of a 156 year old worldwide organization that helps people of all faiths develop values and behaviors that are consistent with our mission "to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all." The Port Royal Branch of the YMCA was charted in 1990 and opened its doors in June of 1996, following a successful capital campaign. We are a locally autonomous organization made up of voluntary membership that is open to men, women, boys, and girls of all races, religions, incomes, and abilities. Our activities incorporate the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility into all that we do. We encourage and challenge our staff, members, volunteers, and program participants to accept and demonstrate these values.

Since 1991, the YMCA of Beaufort County has made a positive and lasting impact on the children, youth, and families we have been entrusted to serve. What began as a small store front operation in the Pigeon Pint area serving several hundred program participants, has evolved into a dynamic organization, which now serves over 8,800 people annually.
