Mission Statement
The mission of the Family Violence Program of St. Bernard is to empower all survivors of domestic violence---through strong programs that promote quality assurance and continuous growth---to live independent lives free from power and control by other individuals. The location of our facility is furnished on a need-to-know basis for confidentiality reasons.
Description
Shelter - Our residential facility has a capacity between 40 and 50 individuals at one time; however, at the present time we can house up to 20 individuals. Our services include transportation as needed, food, clothing, personal care items, etc.
Counseling - We offer group counseling and individual counseling for women and children. This is available for participants in our residential and our non-residential programs. All services are free of charge and confidential.
Legal Information and Advocacy - Our advocates assist with the completion of petitions for Temporary Restraining Orders (TRO's) and makes referrals for legal representation. Our Court Advocate accompanies program participants to court.
Referrals - This program makes referrals to appropriate agencies for services and additional resources available, as needed.
Children's Program - Our Child Advocates conduct daily playgroups with children 3 and older to teach safe play. She also does outreach on Teen Dating Violence.
