Mission Statement

Animal Aid for Vermilion Area Inc. is a non-profit organization
whose main objective is to rescue, rehabilitate, and find new homes
for the unwanted animals of the Vermilion River Area. On a daily
basis our group rescues dogs and cats from Vermilion Parish Rabies
Animal Control, a very high kill gassing, facility, and saves them
from an untimely death. They are then vetted, rehabilitated, and
nourished for a new chapter in their life which consists of either
foster care or a new forever home.

In addition to these animals we also rescue stray dogs and cats
and we help the public find homes for their pets that they can no
longer care for. One of the reasons this may happen is that the owner
can not afford basic pet needs. If feasible, AAVA may aid them with
food or medicine for their pet so they do not have to part with their
loved one.

Our goal for our area is to have fewer unwanted pets that end up
at high kill shelters and to save the life of every healthy adoptable
pet that does. We can do this by educating the public on the
importance of spaying and neutering their pets and informing them of
our local and state animal cruelty laws.

Description

Animal Aid for Vermilion Area is a non profit 501(c)3 animal rescue organization located in South Louisiana. One of our main goals is to rescue pets from the local animal control facility, i.e. the pound.

While all pounds are always full of dogs and cats for adoption, we are facing a particular challenge: this is a high kill pound with no adoption program
