Mission Statement

The basic mission of SMPDD's Community Development and Planning Division is to identify and capitalize on the development potentials of the fifteen counties. The Division operates from SMPDD headquarters on the Gulf Coast in Gulfport and is organized into six functional areas.

The Area Agency on Aging serves as the public advocate for the development and implementation of comprehensive and coordinated home and community based care systems responsive to the current needs and future growth of the aging population.

MISSISSIPPI INSURANCE COUNSELING AND ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (MICAP)

The MICAP program provides information, counselling and assistance relating to Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare supplemental policies, long term care insurance and other health insurance benefit information
