Mission Statement

The Sumner Pops Orchestra, under the direction of founder and conductor Maestro Janet Clazzy Scott, is truly the "people's orchestra with a heart for the community."
The people's orchestra:
a. The promotion of original American classical music

which is both accessible and entertaining to audiences of all ages

b. Concerts inviting interaction and interplay which
stimulate a sense of community
c. Drawing professional, quality artisans from the county to perform before their own citizenry
d. Staying intricately involved in the inner workings of
the community and not separating off into a clique of elitism

With a heart for the community:
a. Taking music, education and beauty to the students of our schools and colleges
b. Donating all proceeds from ticket sales to area charities, including school band programs
c. Contributing to fellow charitable organizations with a fund-raising project known as "The Topper"
d. Providing gratis musical service when community charities are benefited
These are but a few of the dreams and aspirations of this burgeoning organization. It was once said, "music is beauty." At the Sumner Pops Orchestra, we are intent on making our world a more beautiful place. (615) 826-3871

Description

The Sumner County Symphony performs three full orchestral (building to twenty-five members) concerts each year--spring, fall and a concert on the fourth of July. The Symphony supplements this schedule with a monthly "satellite concert" with the Sumner Pops Orchestral Ensemble. These concerts are of smaller size, bringing us to the Middle Tennessee area in appropriate venues, benefiting local charities in that community. Some organizations affected include senior centers, Samaritan centers, free medical clinics, and children's organizations.
