Spanish Speaking Interpreters Needed to Help Domestic Violence Survivors in Safe Houses

CORA’s Safe House program is looking for Spanish Interpreter volunteers to help Spanish speaking domestic violence survivors in San Mateo County receive vital services from CORA. The Safe House Spanish Interpreter volunteer plays a critical role by facilitating communication between a client who speaks Spanish and has limited English proficiency, and our non-Spanish speaking CORA staff. By volunteering for this role, you will be helping Spanish speaking survivors rebuild their stability and safety, and ultimately, you could be saving a life. CORA’s Safe House team works one-on-one with clients who are fleeing their abusive relationships to provide them with a confidential residential space to heal. During their time at the safe house, clients receive voluntary case management, resources, referrals, and other supportive services to help them during their transition into safe and stable housing.

If you know how to frame a piece of paper, then we need your help! CORA is currently being awarded Proclamations from many cities in San Mateo County to acknowledge the work that we do to help stop domestic violence in our communities. We are looking for a volunteer to support our work by framing these proclamation certificates so that we can proudly hang them up in our community office! The role of this volunteer position is to identify correct size frames, followed by putting the Proclamations in the frames.

(Youth Engagement & Advocacy) Program helps educate youth and teens across San Mateo County by facilitating workshops at San Mateo County schools and we are in need of a Spanish speaking volunteer to help facilitate these presentations. In this volunteer position, you will also help by collaborating alongside other volunteers to bring new and fresh ideas of how to work with teens to educate them on healthy relationship practices. Your volunteer support will provide this important education that could save a teen from a person causing harm to them, now or in their future.

We are a multicultural agency committed to serving victims/survivors, regardless of age, ethnicity/race, financial status, language, sexual orientation, immigration status, class, religion, gender, mental or physical ability.

We provide free and confidential emergency, intervention and prevention services, including the county's only emergency shelter and transitional housing for victims/survivors and services in Spanish and English.
