The mission of Family Promise is to reduce family homelessness in greater Phoenix by empowering a network of interfaith volunteers and community services to provide shelter, compassion, assistance, and life skills training so families can gain self-sufficiency
Family Promise-Greater Phoenix is an Arizona grass-roots non-profit 501(c) (3) agency that provides emergency shelter, meals and transitional services to homeless children and their families in the Phoenix area through the cooperative efforts of community organizations and interfaith congregations and synagogues. The goal is to provide shelter and transitional services to help clients gain independence.
Family Promise is modeled after a successful national program and facilitates shelter, food and transitional services for homeless families with children. Families served by the program must have children younger than 18 years of age and be willing to identify and work on goals to move towards self-sufficiency. During their time at Family Promise, it is expected that they will work hard, under professional guidance, to develop goals and a plan to ensure that another crisis does not spiral them back into homelessness. While other programs may provide food and shelter, Family Promise provides solutions and opportunities for self-sufficiency.
