(H.O.P.E.) is a non-profit organization providing the community with comprehensive housing counseling and financial literacy, helping individuals and households acquire the housing that meets their needs. Our services foster self-sufficiency, sustainable housing, and economic development. Job Description Summary: The Community Navigator position is a crucial addition to H.O.P.E.s housing counseling programs they will help to connect the historically underserved or left behind population to access other services in conjunction with wrap-around and housing services to increase their quality of life. It will connect the gap between underserved and vulnerable populations to ensure that Prince Georgians start to recover from the pandemic. The Community Navigator will be a hub to clients and the community at large alike. This position will include the following but not be limited to the duties listed below: Job Duties/Tasks: Develop a written client listing of Community Referrals & Resources (food banks, childcare, direct client financial assistance for homeowners and renters, referrals to shelters, landlords, properties, etc.) Receive and acknowledge referrals from internal/external housing counselors, partners, and clients. Conduct and document day-to-day outreach to community resources. Assess client needs using a variety of assessment tools. Develop written personalized activities for each client to obtain their housing goals. Assist clients with completing and submitting applications for financial services as well as reviewing for completeness of the application. Refer clients to educational, community, and cultural activities offered within Prince George’s County. Conduct follow-ups via phone and/or email to determine whether the client has connected to resources as part of their personalized plan. Perform ongoing case management to provide service and problem-solving Represent and market agency at events, seminars, networks functions and be able to make presentations as (May require after business hours attendance to include evenings and weekends) Prepare and submit timely and accurate information as necessary to meet agency reporting Be familiar with and maintain compliance with the program funder’s guidelines. Record and update client logs/notes after client meetings in the Client Management System and maintain accurate client records. Maintain client confidentiality Participate in weekly staff meetings and training as well as coordinate efforts to work cooperatively with other counseling staff. Other duties as duties as needed Preferred Qualifications: Associate Degree in Human Services or related field (life and employment experience will also be considered in lieu of education) Two to three years of experience in Social Services. Knowledge of local community resources and partners. Professional, highly organized, motivated to learn, with strong communication and listening skills. Strong time-management skills. This opportunity serves the community of Nanjemoy, MD for housing solutions and home improvement projects. The volunteer will be trained on presenting H.O.P.E.'s resources to interested clients with the goal of signing up interested clients for the Home Facade project. Volunteer will go out in the community to churches, community centers, and market the program. Accept and enroll clients with applications while explaining the program. Working as part of a team to support community programs around issues related to housing options, utility assistance, weatherization, wills/estate planning, foreclosure prevention, and housing façade program. Working as part of a team to organize, hold, and attend community events that draw in and involve local residents and partners; Recruiting and supporting local people interested in H.O.P.E.’s housing assistance and home façade programs. Developing and sustaining positive relationships with a range of people, including residents, community leaders, local groups and organizations, and local authorities; Supporting face-to-face, and online activities; Attending meetings and working as part of the H.O.P.E. project team; Working in different environments (both office-based and in the community), at times best suited to the community (including some weekends). Maintain case notes and participant files and ensure that all reporting requirements are adhered to as outlined by the funder and program for every client interaction. Work collaboratively with community partners and other H.O.P.E. staff to link clients with needed services. Performs other duties/special projects as assigned.

Primary Tasks Will be responsible for advising clients on preventive foreclosure and pre-purchase housing issues over the phone or via the internet. Will also gather facts regarding client's financial position, analyze total client needs and make recommendations to assist clients in meeting their financial goals. Under direction, to conduct case studies and follow-up on clients who are referred for housing counseling. Examples of Duties: ·Perform data input of intake packages utilizing the Fannie Mae Desktop Housing Counselor Online system (HCO) system. · Perform basic housing counseling services, including intake and budget assessments. · Work on behalf of clients to contact lenders and servicers to check status of package submitted. · Coordinate monthly workshops on foreclosures as well as pre-purchase education and post-purchase counseling. · Assist in maintaining resource and referral network among the community, public, private and governmental agencies. · Facilitate homebuyer education workshops · Program administration, including answering and responding to general inquires, collection and processing of new client information and general mailings · Gather and maintain information on existing and upcoming homeownership opportunities ·Assist in maintenance of the program's database, including data collection, input and program reporting · Assist in new curriculum development and existing curriculum refinement Secondary Tasks · Represent the organization in various community forums · Market the housing services to the local community, non-profit, public and private agencies. Basic Job Function The Housing Counselor is responsible for providing professional counseling in the area of Pre-purchase and Foreclosure Prevention. Following the HUD guidelines to provide education information and guidance in order for clients to make an informed selection of the options available to them is essential to this position. Interacts with lenders/servicers, advocates for clients in an effort to obtain the best mortgage products available for home buyers and preserve homeownership for existing homeowners at risk of foreclosure. Responsibilities Foreclosure Prevention Assume and manage a caseload of clients whose situations require intervention or negotiation with a mortgage lender. In such cases, negotiate appropriately with lender for loss mitigation, work options and short sale, etc. Will continue to work with client as needed until case is resolved in the best possible way for the client. Will keep case open until client has reached a workout with the lender and beyond, providing consistent quarterly follow up with client to make sure client is still on track. Maintain required job skills and core competencies. Attend and participate in required educational programs and staff meetings. Pre-purchase and Financial Capabilities Provide client with information on all aspects of the home buying process and requirements. Run credit reports and review report with client. If credit repair is needed will advise client of such and arrange for the client to come in for that service on a later date. If credit does not need repair makes sure client moves on to the next step of the home buying process. Prepares a thorough current budget, provides a pre-qualification for a loan amount based on the clients monthly gross income, and works on a futuristic budget with the client using the mortgage payment client qualifies as well as other expenses that the client will have once he/she is a homeowner. Work with client throughout the buying process to address any problems or answer any questions that may arise during this time. Available to client until purchase is complete and post purchase for a minimum of one year.
