Description

Workforce Solutions Cameron, as the workforce development board for Cameron County, Texas is the organization managing a system of services that complement workforce and economic development so employers can access the quality employees they need. Through a network of workforce centers, Workforce Solutions administers a broad range of business-directed services, including customer service and supervisory training, language and computer skills education, child care, and an array of initiatives to provide the necessary support for businesses and individuals to be successful at work in Cameron County. Resource rooms at the workforce centers, which are publicly funded and available at no charge, offer job seekers Internet connections linking them to local, state and national job listings. Computers, telephones, and fax machines are also available, as well as the latest labor market information to make the job search easier and faster. The workforce centers provide job seekers with career development information, job search resources, training programs, and unemployment benefits. Targeted populations receive intensive assistance to overcome barriers to employment and employment advancement, and financial assistance for technical training is also available to those who qualify.

Guided by a Board comprised of 25 business and community leaders approved by the Texas Workforce Commission, Workforce Solutions Cameron and its workforce centers in Brownsville and Harlingen, Texas are committed to providing employment, training, and educational services to meet the current and future workforce needs of Cameron County. Funded by federal tax revenue channeled through the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), services at the Workforce Solutions Cameron centers are generally free to all residents of Cameron County.
