Description
The Maine Jewish Museum celebrates the art, history and culture of Maine's Jews in a restored 1921 synagogue in downtown Portland. We offer a wide variety of exhibits and programming that appeal to people of all ages and backgrounds. Changing exhibits by contemporary artists are featured in the first floor gallery. The 2nd floor is the main sanctuary of the once-orthodox congregation, the last remaining immigrant-era synagogue in Portland. The 3rd floor features historical panels telling the stories of many of Maine's earliest Jewish immigrants.
