Description

Calliope is Boston's only collaborative choral / orchestral ensemble. Approximately 80 musicians, comprised of professionals, amateurs, semi-professionals and students, work together throughout the season. Observations, ideas and suggestions are exchanged in an an innovative process of rehearsal and performance. The membership and Board of Directors of Calliope believe that music is a path to social betterment, and to that end one performance each season is a benefit concert for a Boston-area charity. Programming for that concert reflects the mission and philosophy of the beneficiary organization. Championing the musicians of tomorrow, Calliope also sponsors two mentoring scholarships, awarded to Boston area high school students.
