We are so excited that you’re interested in joining our squad as a mentor, which we call a Big Brother or Big Sister! We operate a one-to-one mentoring program where one volunteer is matched with one child (ages 8-17 living in Cuyahoga County) in a community-based program where matches do activities in the community together. We're still here and we need you!

Be a "Big for a Day" Ready to make a big impact with minimal commitment? Here's the solution: Become a "Big for a Day" with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Cleveland! Urgent Need: Be a Mentor as a "Big for a Day" Volunteer! For one day engage in an exciting community, school-based, or group activity alongside our ready-to-be-matched (RTBM) children-who are eagerly awaiting a mentor. These experiences are invaluable for them while they await a permanent match. With about 40-50 kids continually on our waitlist, the demand for "Big for a Day" volunteers is significant. Why be a "Big for a Day"? No long-term commitment required: Just a few hours of your time to share smiles, build memories, and make a lasting impact. We prioritize Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI): This ensures safe, inclusive spaces where everyone feels valued. It's simple and rewarding: Interact, engage, and mentor! No special skills needed, just show up as yourself to positively impact a young person. Make a difference: Your time and attention can brighten a child's day and boost their confidence and social-emotional learning skills. Create memorable experiences: Leave a lasting impression on both of your hearts. Share the experience and double the fun! You don't have to come alone. Pie-Iron Pizza and Pies -Big for a Day Event

Can you volunteer to make pizza or pie and engage with a child for a few hours? You'll be matched with a child (Little) in our program who is awaiting their permanent match. No special skills are needed. Show up as yourself, engage, mentor, and brighten a child's day. Littles and Bigs for the Day will learn how to use a pie-iron to make a delicious pizza and dessert pie. Youth Outdoors staff with go over safety and how to cook over an open fire with this popular outdoor cooking tool. And then eat the pizza or pie you make! A short hike with a chance to hand feed a chickadee will also be available throughout the day. Make sure to dress for the weather, as we will be outside all day. A.B. Williams Memorial Woods (meeting location) which is just past the North Chagrin Nature Center entrance.

We work with volunteers, parents and families to create mentoring relationships that defend, inspire and empower the potential that lives within every kid. We are ready to build the biggest possible future, together. Our core program is one-to-one mentoring; however we also have one day opportunities called 'Big for a Day."

Description

We call our mentors 'Bigs' and the children we serve 'Littles'. Our Bigs and Littles have been making incredible friendships across Greater Cleveland for over 60 years.
