Mission Statement
We empower Americans through education, particularly refugees and immigrants, to achieve employment, economic and social advancement, while promoting racial harmony among the many ethnic groups in North Philadelphia.
Description
Throughout the last thirty years, the Indochinese American Council has empowered English language learners to develop skills to further their education, employment and participation in society. In 1987, through funding by The School District of Philadelphia, the IAC began its long-running service programs for students with limited English proficiency. We provide dynamic childhood education services in afterschool and summer programs with a curriculum based in English language learning, academic support, literacy instruction, project-based learning, physical activity and exposure to arts and culture. Our adult education classes include GED preparation, ESL instruction at a variety of levels, computer literacy courses and citizen information sessions. The IAC maintains itself as a resource for the community and we are proud to call the North Philadelphia neighborhood, Logan, our home
